There is no charge for any of the competitions and Corning residency and YMCA memberships are not required.  A birth certificate
is required in order to register.  Players may only participate in one local event, but may participate in any or all of the skills
competitions at that local event.  All four competitions will be taking place independently.  Registration will take place at Denison
Park on the day of the event.

The winner of each competition, in each age group and gender, will be invited to the Regional Competition between May 17th and
June 22nd.  The divisions are 8/9 Boys, 8/9 Girls, 10/11 Boys, 10/11 Girls, 12/13 Boys and 12/13 Girls.  Age is determined as of
August 31, 2008.

A FREE national grassroots skills competition that provides both boys and girls, ages 8 to 13, the opportunity to showcase their
athletic abilities in four (4) sports - basketball, soccer, tennis and track & field.

Jr. Olympics Skills is intended to encourage youth participation in sport and emphasize the "FUN" element of competition.  Since
there is no registration fee, everyone has the opportunity to participate.  Boys and girls compete separately and can advance through
three (3) levels of competition, including the national finals in July hosted by the US Olympic Committee.

Basketball
Challenges participants to score as many points as possible by making baskets from designated shooting areas and the free throw
line in 45 seconds.

Soccer
Tests participants' ability to dribble, shoot and score in the fastest time possible.

Rapid Rally USTA Tennis
Challenges youngsters to serve and continue to hit a low-compression tennis ball against the wall as many times as possible in 30
seconds.

Track & Field
Tests youngsters in two fundamental skill events: The Sprint (50-meter dash) and The Jump (standing broad jump). Participants
compete in both events to receive the highest cumulative point score.
